I have a BA Hons in English Literature and Creative Writing and a BSc in Biology and Marine Biology. I am currently completing a PGCE in Primary Education. I have 2 years experience in teaching and 6 years experience in tutoring.
I love teaching and am completely ready to help and support your child in learning the foundational phonics and handwriting techniques and getting them excited about understanding the wonderful world around them that will support them in the rest of their educational journey.
My lessons work much the way a usual lesson would in a classroom. There will be a warm-up exercise to get things started and then we will gently move into working on the attainment of knowledge that we are focusing on in the lessons. These targets will be set during communication between myself and the guardian/parent!
My experience in tutoring comes from working with my sister on her primary and secondary education and she is now accomplished in her own right, working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Textiles at college. I tutored a brother and sister for just under a year and they both made incredible progress in handwriting, reading and phonics knowledge.
It is important for everyone involved to remember, these are extra for the children and may not be the most exciting thing for them to be doing in their free time. I will endeavour to make these lessons exciting and engaging, something that they look forward to and have fun doing. Learning is supposed to be fun and exciting!
