My lessons would be fun and friendly, incorporating my knowledge in a way that can be easily remembered. The format I shall use is a presentation with key details and then at the end of a lesson do a quiz to see how much information a potential student has retained. My experience of being a History student since starting Secondary school - nearly nine years ago, has allowed me to pick up on ways my teachers taught me, and helped me get the best possible grades I could, ways I shall reflect in my teaching. The content of my lesson would vary depending on what time period the student would like to focus on, for example if we were looking at tudors, I would go into detail about every monarch from Henry VII to Elizabeth I. Not only that, but my lessons would include going over how to write B/A/A* essays, for example how to analyse sources in terms of content, context and provenance. As well as how to conduct research, and complete coursework. Not only that, but also how to answer A-Level interpretation essays, as well as Synoptic essays. But also GCSE style essays too. I would try and cover as much in a lesson as possible, perhaps focusing 35 minutes on the actual historical knowledge, 10-15 minutes on how to incorporate the knowledge into an essay, and then quiz the knowledge at the end. I would even be happy to set mock essays and mark them myself using exam board mark schemes- being both confident in AQA and OCR examination boards.
