I hold a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, a BA honours degree in English and have 13 years experience as a class teacher.

I am also registered with the DBS online update service.

I believe active participation from students is key to ensuring they develop confidence and deepen their understanding of key concepts. I have experience in tutoring KS1, KS2 and KS3 for Maths and English, including tutoring tailored for exam prep and the 11+.

I also tutor English at A Level and GCSE Level.
I offer English as an additional language specific tutoring.
I offer synthetic phonics tutoring.

Students learn best when they feel valued and confident and all learning will be taught at the pace that suits you.

What will my online lesson look like?

Modelling: visual demonstrations and examples

Explanation: explanation of key concepts.

Questioning: to ensure knowledge is embedded, and that there is a clear understanding of what is being taught.

Practise: tasks for student to complete to embed skills. (Whiteboard work, online or verbal)

Assessment: quizzes, tests at the end of teaching to ensure progress and to check for any concepts which need to be revisited.

Revision: small tasks for the student to complete over the week to assess if learning has been embedded.

Ensuring a deep understanding:
I will also use 'spoof assessment' where I will show an incorrect answer or misconception and ask the student to explain what needs to be corrected; this is important to ensure that there is a deep understanding of the learning taking place.

Learning will always be engaging, fun and tailored towards the individual student's unique learning style.
