Having tutored English for the past year and having been predicted an A* in English Literature at A Level and achieved 9s in both English Language and Literature at GCSE, I am very familiar with the process of understanding and teaching syllabus texts. As a passionate student of English, studying the subject at UCL in 2024, I hope to instill a love within my students of both the subject, and the skills of critical reading that I wholeheartedly believe students will utilize throughout their entire education and university. My teaching methods are very interactive and involve much discussion of the texts, followed by essay writing practice as I believe that perfecting essay techniques leads to the maximum level of improvement in my students. On top of this I review and mark essays according to each students syllabus and can often help them develop their writing style, especially regarding homework tasks. Specifically for English Language GCSE, I have worked as a teacher's aide and helped students with Creative Writing assignments specifcially for academic competitions. On a wider basis, I am also able to help with English and History personal statements and can tutor A Level Edexcel History depending on the module. Tutoring sessions occur over Zoom and are often for an hour at a time, yet flexible lesson times can be arranged and before a new tutee is taken on, a 30 minute introductory session can be held to help students understand my teaching style. Sessions can be timetabled weekly but can be made flexible depending on schedule.
