I am TEFL qualified and possess a French degree from the University of Bristol (obtaining a 2:1) which have both equipped me at mastering both the English and French language. My degree obviously required exemplary French, coupled with a strong mastery of the English language - comprising of language, grammar, oral, as well as history and politics modules. This gave me a wide breadth of knowledge and has inspired interesting teaching topics for all ages.
I obtained a TEFL certificate, which was an excellent cementing of 20+ years learning foreign languages; and a good consolidation of the more fine points of my language understanding 10 years after my A* in French and A in Spanish, at A Level.
Before that, I achieved an A* in both my English, French and Spanish GCSES. Teaching-wise, I have taught conversational English when I lived in France; helping French private tutees with their language skills and helping them to progress with their linguistic abilities and building confidence.
I also have recent experience in tutoring two home-schooled tutees who are Key Stage 2. We focus on English comprehension and basic French.
Alas, for me and for most people who want to learn a language, the priority is being able to speak that language. As a natural communicator, conversational French is my strong suit. which has been demonstrated through my two jobs in the French Alps (Val D'Isere and Meribel) as an Operations Assistant and Concierge, respectively. My degree in French means that for those students that desire lessons with a more academic and structural focus, I can teach these.
I am accustomed at tutoring key stage 2 English - from grammar to reading comprehension, and I endeavour to make my lessons exciting as well as informative. I will help you to forget your English and French phobias!
With regards to French, I am confident tutoring primary school and early senior years, pre GCSE. In relation to Spanish, I teach primary.
I believed that my 20 years of language tuition, plus a BA in French (whilst also speaking Spanish at C1 level) - on top of my TEFL certificate - will enable me to excel in teaching your children, whilst my bubbly personality will provide an interactive and dynamic learning environment which inspires confidence and a sense of fun in learning.
