I have about thirteen years teaching experience. I teach Arabic from from simple to complex topics. I use English language, Yoruba and Arabic (at a point) to teach. The most interesting part about being in front of the classroom is turning incomprehensible language into comprehensible language. I start with Qaaidatul Bagdaadiyyah or Nuurul Bayaan for reading (known as qiraaha). Then I will proceed with an Arabic textbook callled Duruusu lagatil Arabiyyah to teach my students. This textbook is in three volumes. The fact that I could possibly impact a young's person's life makes me feel happy. I feel that one of the major satisfactions of being a teacher is to enrich a student's life. I realise that patience, uderstanding, compassion and sensitivity to this profession, which I am wholeheartedly prepared to provide. Teaching is a two-way process in which both, teacher and students, have the opportunity to learn from each other.
Therefore, different activities and methods should be used during class time. Their commitment to learn a second language coming so early every day, with a positive attitude, also taught me that there is no obstacle when you have a genuine desire to achieve something. When students feel respected and supported by the teacher, they gain confidence and strive when applying new concepts. This is something that I have seen during my teaching experience with kids, and proven to be the same with adults. It is also true that if students can relate the learning to their daily lives, it will be more meaningful and long lasting.
