Alistair Hackshall

Hello! My name is Alistair but you can call me Ali — I graduated from Southampton University with a degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering, which gave me a deep understanding of complex STEM concepts. Having been a tutee myself, I know how valuable it is to have clear guidance and support. In our sessions, I’ll tailor everything to your specific needs, breaking down complex topics into manageable steps. We’ll be using a variety of tutoring styles to suit your learning. For example, we will use active recall to help you reinforce what you’ve learned, along with problem-based learning to tackle real-world scenarios and improve your critical thinking. We’ll also use scaffolded learning, where I guide you through concepts gradually, building your understanding from simple to more complex ideas. We’ll work through practice problems, focusing on developing exam techniques, like time management and answer structure, so you can approach any question with confidence. These methods are science backed and can be vouched for by many people including myself.

My flexible schedule means that I am available whenever suits you. It also means that out of session hours you can contact me with a problem and I will try my utmost to get back to you quickly with a detailed explanation on how to solve the problem.
