Learning French CAN be fun and rewarding! I will always strive to make lessons as varied and engaging as possible!
Starter activities can include news articles, song lyrics, idioms, puzzles, matchups....a whole range of vocabulary to lead us into each lesson.
I use power-points to present examples, listening materials , writing frames and gapfils to reinforce sentence patterns, grammar items or examples of good practice. Depending upon each learner's needs I can deliver the lesson entirely in French or I can use a blend of French and English as each learner becomes more confident. Each lesson is different as I base the progress around each individul and their requirements as we go along!
I have taught French for over 25 years to students with a wide range of abilites. Where students lack confidence I am happy to take the lead and plan detailed lessons to build on key skills, using key vocabulary. For A level and GCSE lessons, I would follow the Themes within the course requirements. I can support learning if students request particular focus on individual skills or topics. As we complete a reading task I can highlight exam technique, whilst picking out key vocabulary or examples of key grammar rules which are of significant importance to ensure maximum progress!
I want each student to enjoy their learning and as a French Teacher feel it is essential for my lessons to be interactive. Speaking activities can be scaffolded to support the learner, can revolve around question and answers or be more open depending on the skills and requirements of each learner. I have conducted Speaking exams for both GCSE and A level and know what is required to ensure success for exam requirements! Learn French with me!
