Qualified teacher of Science with experience teaching both GCSE science across the board, as well as A level Biology. Acquired my own bachelors degree in Biochemistry and Genetics.

I am most familiar with teaching AQA A level Biology and Edexcel GCSE science, but confident to teach under any exam boards. Will spend time familiarising myself with the students exam board prior to tutoring sessions.

Passion for helping students who aspire to do well, but want some extra help. I am keenly aware that GCSEs and A levels are some of the most crucial years of a persons life and the typical school structure doesn’t always offer enough time or attention from teachers to get students to the grades they want, therefore tutoring can be vital for picking up the pieces of a students education that may otherwise be missed.

Adaptable in my teaching approach to benefit the individual learner and I am dedicated to find the approach that best suites their needs. Can include things such as live drawings and explanations of different scientific processes, coaching through maths based questions, evidence based revision techniques, exam techniques to help best understand and answer exam questions etc.

For a typical tutoring session I would be in contact with the student to establish the focus of the session. Once at the session I would then judge the students prior knowledge of said subject. From this I would be able to build on that knowledge with further explanation and assign tasks that help the student practice what they have learnt to help cement this into memory. Finally, I would then go over the application of that knowledge to exam questions to ensure they’re confident they have gained the knowledge they need for their exams.
