Since I graduated, I started working as a tutor for private families in subjects as general Science, Chemistry, Biology and Italian for foreign people. My students achieved outstanding results and gained confidence in the subject, which enabled them to progress succesfully along their academic paths. My teaching style focuses on developing built-in capacities, curiosity and confidence, stimulating analytical thinking and setting achievable step by step learning objectives. Currently I am working as lead science technician in a secondary school in Leeds, but in the past I worked in a special needs school, and as an academic support workers with university students. From November 2017 and June 2018 when I delivered a geography course for Norwegian students. I planned, organised and delivered lessons and educational/research trips focused on physical and human geography, giving the students tools to be able to carry out their own research on a chosen topic. These work experiences led me to the following core strategy when I support students:
1) Try to work on individual strengths and facilitate the growth of independence, for example setting up timetables that help to manage daily life, workload and deadlines. It is important to stress prioritisation and realistic goals and targets setting
2) Encourage students to break problems into manageable chunks.
3) Guide the student in understanding the different learning material available and how it can be used.
4) Make sure that every session is well planned.
I would be happy to help you fullfill your own potential!
