My holistic tutoring style means that I examine a student's specific needs and take them into consideration when planning my lessons. Every student will enjoy and benefit from a tailor-made plan which has taken into account their preferred learning styles, any special educational needs they may have and - above all - their strengths and weaknesses.
It will be clear to the student from the beginning of the session what they will achieve by the end of the lesson as each of my lessons starts by running through 2-3 lesson objectives. For the main bodies of the lesson, I incorporate a variety of learning activities which will be adjusted according to how a student learns best. I use a variety of media to deliver my lessons, such as:
- PowerPoint presentations
- Youtube videos
- Revision diagrams/mind-maps
- Sources/historian interpretations
- Deep dives into exam questions
- Critical thinking questions
To make sure your child is getting the most out of their tutoring sessions, my sessions will be supplemented with homework to ensure both continuous revision and consolidation of knowledge. The homework tasks will not be too difficult, and will always revolve around what we have just covered in our lesson.
In addition, I can run exam workshops with students who are particularly struggling with a certain question style or just want to improve their historical analysis skills. These workshops examine every angle of question types with a closer look at what the examiner likes to see in an answer. These have proved to be highly popular with my past students, with their confidence improving dramatically as a result of these workshops.
