Throughout my lessons, I aim to engage with the students and ensure the content of the lessons matches their weakest areas directly in order to broaden their understanding and competence on that topic. I believe the preparation for exams is best completed through the practice of questions akin to the ones that would be in the exam, and I apply my knowledge of exam technique and my own experience with GCSE Maths to the lessons. I believe that a tutor with recent experience with the examination would be better suited to teach the techniques required than someone who has not sat the exam or has very little knowledge of the specific courses at all. I focus on the ability to apply what has been taught, so the content of the lessons is not only the concepts and basic questions but also a deeper understanding and application if the students ability allows it. I aim to stretch and challenge my students without overworking or confusing them, as I believe working too high above attainment just slows down progress, especially approaching an exam.
