I teach on Zoom or Skype or MS Teams, using interactive whiteboards for some work, but mainly using the Socratic method favoured by Oxbridge tutorials. Ideally, a student comes to a session having completed a preparatory task which we review and discuss and use to set targets for the session. We then move through a set text or passage, identifying relevant thematic and stylistic concerns and linking forward to the learning objective for the session, eg to write a thesis, summary or analytical paragraph.
My style of teaching is highly successful and based on identifying the student's areas of anxiety, and working on building up academic self-esteem and confidence through lively, often humorous but always rigorous intellectual exchange. I'm deceptively light-hearted and fun - but my students get fabulous results and add significant value to their existing predictions. I've taught in the independent sector for twenty years, examined for three major exam boards and coached students for successful application or re-application to Oxford, Cambridge, Princeton and Stanford universities amongst others.
