Hi there!

Learning a language can be a stressful, difficult process without support, which is why I believe it is so important to provide an accessible setting for students to express themselves, to get comfortable making mistakes, and to personally engage with the language.

While memorization and grammar are crucial foundations in learning English, I recognize that this learning approach is not synonymous with success!

Instead, my approach to teaching English prioritizes individual learning strategies, personal motivations, speech and pronunciation. My classes are for anyone who would like to practice their conversation skills, cultivate their individual learning tactics, or gain confidence speaking English out-loud.

The format of this approach covers foundational grammatical and syntactical knowledge through a scaffolded technique. A step-by-step description of this is as follows:

-- Identifying + describing individual learning strategies (e.g. interacting with English-language music)
-- Introducing new material (e.g. possessive -s and ensuing morphology)
-- Providing guided exercises using this material (e.g. narrating illustrations)
-- Introducing independent material usage (e.g. students are asked to recount a childhood memory involving use of possessive markers)

The speech and conversation element is formatted similarly, except the role of a tutor in this approach is solely to guide the conversation, introduce relevant lexical items, and encourage the student to explore using English in contexts outside the predictable classroom confines of "the apple is on the table."

Lastly: since I'm currently enrolled in a university and have been pursuing my education in that context since 2018, I'm familiar with the academic writing requirements and challenges that come with being an English L2 student -- I would be happy to provide guidance in that area as well.
