About me

I would describe my teaching style as facilitating learning. My style is relaxed, interactive and allows students to fully develop their knowledge and skills. I like to use problem style questions or suggest statements to be debated. I draw on my 40 years experience both as a legal professional and law teacher. Students always say they feel comfortable and relaxed in my learning environment.

A typical session maybe dealing with student queries on their reading, then imparting new knowledge in a cohesive and immersive way. That will then be followed by a debate or problem question to ensure students have understood the legal topic covered.

In relation to my 16 years in practice before moving into HE I was involved in numerous litigation matters appearing for Clients in the Employment Tribunal, Magistrates Court, County Court and High Court. My main practice area was dealing with commercial contractual disputes and employment matters. I also was lucky enough to be involved with one case that went to the House of Lords (now the Supreme Court) and two cases that went to the Court of Appeal.

In regard to my Teaching career I have been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Huddersfield, University of Chester, Bedfordshire University, North Eastern University London. I therefore have experience in teaching a wide range of students including being involved in sessions with sixth forms.

In regard to teaching areas I am happy to teach legal skills, ELS, Public Law, Contract and Tort, Employment, Company Law. Equity and Trusts.
