I am a highly motivated final-year undergraduate student of biology at Durham University. I am predicted to graduate with a first-class in my degree next year. I obtained an A* in biology at A-level and an A in biology at GCSE. I have a keen passion for the subject and have enjoyed studying it throughout my academic career, with a particular interest in physiology and cell biology (however, with impressive knowledge that extends across the breadth of the field as well). Being able to study biology at Durham is one of my proudest achievements, and I am eager to share that enthusiasm for the subject with my students.
I have one year of tutoring experience - teaching maths at GCSE level - and I am eager to apply my tutoring expertise to help students reach their academic goals, during my last year of university studies. I would describe my approach to teaching as highly empathetic and patient: I allow students to take their time in understanding the concepts that I describe, but I also challenge my students, with the ultimate goal of fulfilling their potential in biology.
In my previous role as a GCSE maths tutor, I quickly recognised that my students were seeking a way of learning that differed from the classroom. I recognise wholly that learning can be a challenge (especially with such an abstract and difficult subject like biology), however I also believe that discussing the concepts openly and without the pressure of assessments, is a crucial way to foster both engagement and progress.
