I generally take an approach with a combination of power point slides, and verbally going through the slides in lecture format while providing additional examples, usually with a visual image component. I like to make some silly joke examples or sometimes references to get you to remember key points more simply and efficiently. I may use repetition tactics and ask you to repeat certain key concepts back to me to ensure you both understand the definitions and understand that the concept is important. I sometimes make a game out of concepts to make the lessons more fun, and administer various assessments potentially in the form of quizzes, tests and assignments. I have a friendly approach so I try to use examples that may seem more personally relatable and realistic so the ideas are easier to understand and follow. I also go by means of consistent encouragement for the sake of my student’s confidence and well being. I take the time to check in and ask my students if they need any clarification or need me to explain a concept again or in a different way. I respond to my student’s emails as efficiently as I can. I like to engage with my students so they feel comfortable asking me any questions they feel are necessary in order to understand the task at hand. I sometimes offer extra assignments or try to make more time when a student is struggling so they can also succeed in their particular academically oriented goals.
