I grew up in Russia and when I was adopted at the age of nine, I had to take ESL classes(English as a Second Language) o be able to succeed in my education and journey of life in America. I went through the struggle of learning the English language and I have empathy for new English learners.
It is because of this experience I have an ear for foreign speakers learning English and able to aid in facilitating proper pronunciation of vocabulary.
We will start small and slow, like my ESL teacher taught me. First the alphabet, letter by letter with attention to pronunciation and where each letter is placed in the mouth at the point of initiating sound.
Then we will move to appropriate vocabulary with proper pronunciation with small easy words to tricky words that have silent letters.
Eventually the lessons will move reading. Starting with picture books and gradually incorporating harder level books with extensive grammar and vocabulary.
We will have time for questions and concerns.
I will suggest books for children to read as to facilitate practice on their own. I hope to choose books that are exciting for the children to read so that they can help expand their imagination and they won’t be able to put them down!
