Having completed the comprehensive 40 hour online TEFL course, I use techniques that have stood the test of time, such as Skills based learning or PPP structured lessons. Additionally, I have absorbed the unique learning approach used in the International baccalaureate programme, which gives students the liberty to learn with more freedom than conventional teaching. An example of this would be encouraging students to select topics and pieces of literature that they truly are passionate about! In my case, I studied the language and literature of my favorite cartoon show (Avatar: The Last Airbender)! In my experience, this helps the learner be more invested in their studies, and enjoy their studies more than conventional language learning. Penultimately, I like to use mixed media and take advantage of the online world. This means that instead of boring homework, my students are assigned tasks such as online grammar games, podcasts and music to listen to, videos and television to watch. This technique is called immersion, and in my experience learning French, it is extremely effective. Ultimately, I teach in a FUN, COLLABORATIVE and CREATIVE manner! :)
