Hello potential students! I believe in making music fun and interesting experience, and this is reflected in lessons. A standard half-hour piano lesson will be broken down into 3 rough sections:
1. Piano Technique (Scales & Arpeggios, Sightreading)
This is essential for improving as a pianist and is always the central aspect of practising. I will guide you through the techniques and tricks I
use to master scales and arpeggios. Other important skills, such as sightreading, will also be worked on here.
2. Learning Pieces (Musicality, Performance skills, Technique Implementation)
The fun bit of music! I will teach you a wide range of pieces, including the music that you like to listen to if you're so inclined. We will cover
everything from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Jazz, Modern, Pop, and more, focusing on how to play stylistically and perform to the highest
standard.
3. Music Theory (including Aural skills and Music History)
As hard as it looks, I assure you that music theory can be fun, and it makes everything else a whole lot easier. Occasionally, I might set some
theory exercises to help consolidate some of the knowledge I'll teach you in lessons. We will also do lots of aural exercises and advanced
students will learn Music History too.
I believe this will give you a comprehensive understanding of music and enable you to play the piano skillfully and confidently. I have a large selection of music books across all levels that will help you progress efficiently and effectively. Of course, we will communicate about what you want to achieve, whether it be grade exams or focusing on a specific style of piano music, and tailor the lessons to your goals.
I have taught 20+ students over the last 2 years, all of whom I would say enjoyed and benefited from our lessons.
Music Theory Only lessons are also available for those who can play an instrument but need some help with the theoretical side.
All lessons are online. Students will need their own piano/keyboard and a webcam device with a microphone.
Thank you for taking the time to read this ad and I hope we can start playing some piano together soon!
