From my experience both as a student and as a teacher I’ve found that perfecting the basic skills and movements involved with playing the violin during lessons creates the best results! I love working with students on short songs and phrases designed to help grasp the essential techniques, then finishing with some exciting pieces of their choice!

From my experience both as a student and as a teacher I’ve found that perfecting the basic skills and movements involved with playing the violin during lessons creates the best results! I love working with students on short songs and phrases designed to help grasp the essential techniques, then finishing with some exciting pieces of their choice!
I aim to make my lessons as laid back as possible, allowing us to chat through anything you have struggled with during your practises, or any new types of music that you are hoping to try. From this I can recommend what we need to delve into during lesson time and get the most out of our one-to-one sessions. At the end of each lesson we will go over everything that has been discussed and I’ll provide some “homework” for the week. Don’t worry! It’s not your typical, boring schoolwork, rather any practises that will help boost your violin playing.
I believe it is important to try learning a vast array of music from many different cultures and backgrounds. As well as exploring the amazing musical scenery and sounds of different countries, it may also benefit your violin playing by widening your array of skills to hand. I began as a classically trained violinist, but later discovered a passion for folk music. Be it Scottish folk music, Spanish or even Eastern European, I absolutely love it!
I started playing the violin in school and have since progressed to obtaining my grade 8 alongside playing in multiple local orchestras. I also love to go busking in my free time.
