I come with the experience of knowing the challenges that come with learning a second language from having to learn English at a young age so I know the challenges and also what tends to work and what doesn't.
I believe that each individual learns best in different ways, so I will adapt my sessions for each student to match the best way they learn. Depending on the age of my students, my techniques vary to ensure each student gets the most out of our sessions.
I will take some time to understand the level of each student and once aware of what level they are working at I will create exercises, especially for them to go over what they have learned as well as add anything I believe they should know that their school isn't teaching them.
I also believe that learning a language should be fun so interactive games will be something I will use as well as a little task that they will have to do before we meet again for the next session. An example of this is a 3 to 5-minute youtube video in Spanish ( the video would depend on their level of understanding) and getting them to write words they could understand and words they couldn't - the video would have subtitles so they could practice their writing and hearing skills in one task.
This is just a general explanation and each student will have a session adapted to how they learn best to ensure they enjoy the process of learning. I want them to look forward to the session, not dread it, this way they will be more engaged and therefore learn more!
