I like to teach lessons so students learn the mathematical tricks and strategies that make learning fun and easy! I have a lifelong love of mathematical patterns & have years of experience with Asian Maths, specifically the bar diagram method of solving word problems, bringing real world problems to life! This bar diagram method of solving word problems is an early algebraic-thinking tool that can be implemented as young as grade three. Once students are able to draw their word problems as diagrams and "see" their word problems mathematically they are better able to understand abstract mathematical concepts in a more concrete and memorable way. This method of solving problems can be used even in secondary maths courses such as algebra and geometry. I love sharing my joy of learning maths with youngsters and tend to connect quickly and easily with students working one on one, or in small groups. When students see teachers enjoying maths they are more apt to enjoy their work for themselves & this leads to a more studious atmosphere both in the classroom and in home tutoring sessions. Let me help you help them! As a home-educating parent of 15 years I have taught all ages and stages of maths and would enjoy having your student in my virtual classroom. Remember, "Life is a math equation. In order to gain the most, you have to learn to turn negatives into positives." Hope you & your student have a wonderful summer! Let's get together soon and keep them fresh on their math skills & ready for all next school year has to offer!
