Alastair Walker

Hi! My name is Ali, and I am currently undertaking my PhD, supervised by Professor Havi Carel at the University of Bristol, working on the topic of Personality Disorders within the philosophy of psychiatry. This is following on from having graduated from my Masters degree in the Philosophy and History of Science, as well as a First Class Degree in Philosophy (BA) in 2021, specialising in Philosophy of Science.

I have had a passion for teaching and helping students attain their goals since my time working as a teaching assistant at a local primary school before university, and I am excited to once again be teaching alongside my PhD studies.

As someone who definitely found some aspects of learning at school challenging myself, I feel I can empathise with the needs of those who are seeking extra tuition outside of school - be that to help with current school work, or for those looking to benefit from tackling more challenging material. I can thus appreciate the particular need for a sympathetic, understanding teaching style in either of these contexts, and I am confident that is something I will deliver.

With my academic background - primarily Philosophy of Science - I would be happy to help with Maths, English, and the Sciences up to GCSE level. Additionally, I would be happy to help with Philosophy, Psychology, and Religious Studies up to A Level, and Philosophy up to undergraduate level.
