I haven't had formal teaching but I think person experience is much better.
I lived in a Small Spanish village in Spain, there weren't many English on the Village, the Spanish were so friendly, maybe because I made the effort to learn their language it's such a lovely language, it's great to go abroad and be able to speak to the Resident's, shop owner's etc.
