I usually ask for the students aim before deciding on the approach of teaching. I use a text book for lesson plans so if you have one great I can use this if not I can recommend. I usually use whiteboard for explaining the main points of the lesson then we start doing exercises to make sure that the ideas are fully comprehended.
I give homework depending on the student goal and aim from the lessons.
The following session there is always a recap for what we talked about previously to ensure that you still have the information as they are all building on each other.
I give a quiz every while to help the students recall what they have studied before moving forward with more information. This is usually after two months or so (depending on the frequency of the lessons).
