First of all, its most important to see what level the student is at and if they have a grasp on the basics. I then like to see what my students goals are e.g. improving grades or general understanding of the subject. Then, I focus on the weaknesses of the student and improve on those, by giving them questions to solve and explaining concepts in a way they would comprehend. I also like to discuss with my students a study plan to get to their goals.
