I have over 24 years experience as a teacher and teaching mathematics has always been an exciting thing to me especially when I see my students excelling in this field. I retired as a vice principal in my country before moving to the UK. My students have always been excellent in their finnal examinations.
My method of teaching has always been student centred and children friendly.
Most students see mathematics as a monster but I tend to introduce mathematics to my students as a friend whose friendship needs to be cultivated and nurtured as a farmer nurtures his crops by watering, weeding and applying fertilizer. As this is done a kind of friendship develops that causes the student to love and enjoy working and solving problems in mathematics.
Passing examinations shouldn't be the main goal of a mathematics student but he should rather seek to acquire mastery because the knowledge of mathematics is useful in all facets of life
I encourage and allow students to ask questions a lot and I let them know that no question is foolish. In the course of asking questions lies great discoveries of methods of solution which gives mastery to students
My belief in is that no child is dull because I have discovered that a child's brain is like a car battery which requires charging to function well and a child does the charging by constant study. This is why I encourage playing and study to be well balanced .
