I like lessons to be fun and practical. I usually recap the things we have learnt previously, to see how much you have remembered or if we need to do a bit more. This is usually a quiz. Then I like to support you with whatever area you need help in. I make sure there are practical activities that are engaging, so that you can remember what you have been taught. Then, I like to make sure you can do it on your own. If you have areas of learning that are really frustrating for you, we might look at this a little at a time to build up your courage. It is important to me that we have a good relationship and that we get on well so that if you don't understand something, you will have the confidence to ask me about it again and again. I don't want you to worry about how I will respond, I will try lots of different ways of explaining something, if you don't get it at first. Good listening is important, so working somewhere quiet with no distractions is very important as well. I like all learners to understand how they learn best, so if you are not sure how best you learn, we can explore a few different ways so that you can begin to apply some of your own techniques to learning when you are at school, so that you can become really independent. Learning to learn is a vital skill and one that can be taught easily, whilst you are learning other things. The time usually flies by because we fit so much in.
