I am a Master's degree holder in Microbiology and a postgraduate diploma in Education. I have 9years experience as Microbiology tutor. I believe children learn better when move at their pace, some are fast learners some are not. So going at their pace and not overwhelming them. For online tutoring combining Audio and visual methods of learning yields the best results The student will not just hear you speak but will also see pictorial representation of what your saying and is what sticks to their long term memory. Always having a recap at the end of the class also helps the student to summarize what he or she has learnt, i believe its good for them to give a recap of what they have learnt before the tutor does the final recap. This tells you if they were following you along as you tutor or if they were distracted. It also give you a time frame of their attention span as they will be able to recap what they paid attention to. Celebrating little victories also goes a long way to motivate learning in students and encourage participation of students. No matter the age of the student positive words of encouragement makes the students feel good about themselves, its make them want to do more, this makes for a great learning atmosphere. Encouraging self confidence among students also helps them to confidently dive into learning . Without self doubt, students can finally achieve their full potential not just in the class but in all aspects of their lives.
