Ainsley Bowen

Canna Creative is a bilingual (BAFTA Cymru) award winning TV and Creative Media company based in Cardiff, with over 25 years experience in the creative media and events industry.

I provide brand, graphic design, filming production and post production services including editing, audio visual, 3D/VFX animation material, voice over, promotional adverts, subtitling and sign language services to UK broadcasters including ITV, BBC, Channel 4, S4C).

Over time I have built a strong relationship with companies within the creative digital industry and a variety of customers both within the public and private sectors nationally and internationally, which has been beneficial for tailored workshops and educational presentations and resulted in student placements within the creative industry.

My Goals of Teaching

• Students see the relevance of the material and experiences that they are learning.
• Students are given control over decisions in the learning process.
• Students engage in a process of self-reflection and self-discovery.
• Students are able to take these skills of analysis and critique into the larger world of work.
• Students to enhance contemporary bilingual creative media production skills.
• Students to engage with and experience the environment and industry, to learn outside the classroom.
• Students to develop strong entrepreneurial skills to work within a challenging economic time.
• Students to have direct and regular access to experts within the Creative Industries.

I help students gain a sense of themselves as intellectual producers (rather than consumers), who participate in the shared benefit of a media community in which they improve valuable communication skills by working collaboratively. Within my classroom, I try to provide a composed educational outlook by combining a strong academic understanding with a practical, professional focus. This is vital in preparing students for the world outside academia.
