My name is Ailbhe Alcocer, currently a student at Carlos III University in Madrid, pursuing a degree in English-taught Economics. My father is Irish, and as a result, I have been speaking English since my childhood, allowing me to achieve a high level of proficiency.
Furthermore, both of my parents have been language teachers, which has allowed me to see that the best way to teach is by making it dynamic and ensuring that the student is actively engaged and interested in learning the language.
Of course, addressing the theoretical aspects of the language is also essential, as it is what tends to be evaluated. However, in my methodology, there is a balance between the more grammatical aspects and the practical use of the language in everyday life. Learning English is not only necessary for classes but also a valuable skill in the professional world. Therefore, I want to ensure that my students are capable of navigating the English-speaking world and excelling in their studies.
In addition to providing my own exercises and activities, I also assist my students with their homework, ensuring that they understand the answers to deepen their learning.
During classes, I tend to speak exclusively in English, as it encourages students to practice their language skills. However, if I notice that communication becomes challenging in parts of the conversation, I offer a small amount of assistance in Spanish.
I look forward to staying in touch. Best regards,
Ailbhe Alcocer Mc Kevitt.
