Dear students,
One should embrace a second language based on how one connects with the country, its habitants, and traditions. When you feel connected to it, you will feel happier to learn a new language.
I take an holistic approach to teaching with clear communication and good intentions. My objective is to help students reach their potential. as learners and as people. This implies taking into account a broad area that includes feelings. This holistic vision of teaching never loses sight of the central importance of the student's cognitive faculties. I choose storytelling to give students some vivid context which is key for learning new words and creates connections and associations which facilitate the entire language acquisition process. Stories teach us grammar and syntax in the most natural way. I learn English as a second language through conversation, movies, music, and mainly books. I needed to feel the connection to the information I was consuming without feeling overwhelmed.
Emotions are not complements. They are at the very heart of the mental life of human beings. make the connection between what is important for each of us and the world of people, things, and events”.
My success In learning a foreign language depended less on materials, techniques, and linguistic analyses than on what happens in and between me and my tutor during the classroom. That's why I choose storytelling to engage with my students to gauge meaningful relationships which may relate either to intercultural processes, such as culture shock in second language learning situations, or to the interaction in the classroom where it is necessary to take into account how the student is feeling at the time of learning and classroom climate.
