Understand students’ individual learning styles in order to create an appropriate learning environment that takes into account individual students’ needs. All people are equal in their humanness but different by their cognitive potentialities and thus their learning abilities that influence the pace of learning a foreign language. So, teachers should take account of individual differences of the students, take personal interest in their optimal path to language mastery, and implement techniques to accommodate these differences to ensure the most effective learning environments for students.
• my teaching methodology focuses on the student as a unique individual. Some students are learning for their job, others for pleasure or study abroad. Accordingly, the teachers have to take time to seek out information about their students’ needs and create linguistically and culturally rich learning environments. Learning a foreign language is motivating if teaching environments meet the real-life needs of the students. Their motivation to learn comes from their desire to communicate in meaningful beyond the classroom interactions that also reflect curricular goals.
the key to success is creating the correct linguistically and culturally rich environments that support individual and collaborative learning, effective social interaction, active engagement in learning and self-motivation.
• It is important to construct learner-centered classroom environments with maximum student involvement in the search for resources to improve personal and professional skills, awareness of their own potential and the development of new attitudes and values. This teaching approach promotes more meaningful student learning.
• Language is learnt faster by using day to day language and materials to encourage, meaningful interactions in situational contexts. If teachers can integrate language, culture and students´ interests when teaching a foreign language, the students will be able to communicate successfully in different contexts using the language as it is used in real life.
• In the classroom create the environment of the language that the students are learning. Spontaneous classroom interaction puts students in a situation where they are compelled to use the language they are learning, Language is an interaction; it is interpersonal activity and has a clear relationship with society. In this light, language study has to look at the function of language in context, both its linguistic context (what is uttered before and after a given piece of discourse) and its social, or situational, context (who is speaking, what their social roles are, why they have come together to speak).
• This will allow students to cross major barriers: psychological (confidence in oneself), listening (understanding the message), cultural (interest in the foreign culture), cognitive (think directly in the target language).
• Focus on building listening and speaking skills before reading and writing.
• Immerse the students into the culture of the language they are learning. According to this method, teachers seek opportunities for students to interact with native speakers in their target language in a specific cultural context., One of the reasons e-learning based on networks has grown steadily in popularity is because of the opportunity for intercultural communication in foreign languages. As well as interacting with native speakers, students become familiar with the culture of the foreign language they are studying, allowing them to learn faster.
•Teach the language using topics that are of personal interest to the students so they are motivated to be fully involved in communicative interactions Using discussions and debates helps students learn about the culture of the society that speaks the language they are learning and allows them to make comparisons to their own culture. Moreover, debates and discussions encourage students to develop critical reflection, a necessary skill in today´s global society.
Therefore, the content that I provide to my students varies according to the students’ different goals of studying the language, and my knowledge of many book series in teaching the Arabic language during my long experience in teaching Arabic as a foreign language gives me the opportunity to choose the most appropriate content for students, among these book series: ALKITAB . By Mahmoud Al-Batal and Christine Brosted, Arabic for the world, the Arabic in Your Hands, and the I Love Arabic for Children by author Muhammad Al-Gartly.
