I take a person-centred approach; taking into account learning styles, ability and confidence. With over six years of tutoring experience in both private tuition and educational institutional teaching, I am capable of teaching a wide range of personalities and ages.

When I first meet a student, I begin by building a friendly rapport and assuring them that I am here to help them. It is my responsibility to make sure I am providing a comfortable environment that encourages a student to ask for help.

I also believe in regular testing of knowledge. This enables me to see where a student is excelling and where they may struggle. If I see a student struggling with a certain topic I make sure to break down the topic in a simplistic manner to ensure understanding. This helps them build long-term knowledge.

Assigning homework to solidify understanding ensures that the student has the opportunity to strengthen long-term understanding and learning.

Most importantly, I am always asking for feedback. Receiving feedback from my student is important in improving the way I teach, and allows for a clear pathway of communication. I work for the student; they should feel comfortable telling me what they want to focus on during our lessons.
