About me

I am a lively and engaged teacher of English as a Foreign Language, currently working in a British Council-accredited school in Lewes, East Sussex. I teach a range of classes from English for Integration and Work (ESOL) to IELTS. (I have a CELTA certificate.) I am a lively and engaged teacher of English as a Foreign Language, currently working in a British Council-accredited school in Lewes, East Sussex. I teach a range of classes from English for Integration and Work (ESOL) to IELTS. (I have a CELTA certificate.) I try to bring variety to my lessons, with a focus on grammar, pronunciation and, in particular, vocabulary. I look to expand students' use of idiomatic and current English, but am equally able to teach formal and academic English.
My ESOL class varies widely in proficiency. I therefore adapt the material to make sure it is inclusive of all students. The students tell me that I am very patient! In addition, I try to bring in relevant contemporary material while remaining sensitive to cultural sensibilities.
In addition, I am able to teach French, which I speak fluently. (I recently returned from a month of volunteering in Senegal, where I spoke and taught French every day.) I have a good university level of German and good working knowledge of Italian.
I am flexible in terms of hours and can teach both online and face to face. I use textbooks and PowerPoints.
