I have experience tutoring the age ranges of alongside a local firm called LearnLog, that specialised in tutoring children for the 11+, for the grammar school entrance exams. During this process, I taught Mathematics at the KS3 and GCSE level. Alongside this, I have achieved a 7 (A*) in both Higher Level Mathematics and Physics in the International Baccalaureate Curriculum, and am currently on track to receive a 1st class in my first year of my degree. In relation to my competence, I had also started my degree a year early, at the age of 17, due to my high academic track record.
The format I use consists of a diagnostic that highlights the students weaknesses, so they can initially be focused on first. After highlighting these weaknesses, I make sure to thoroughly explain the underlying concepts, as is important especially in physics, and then proceed to give them specific questions from their curriculum to assess their knowledge. This process is repeated for all areas in which the student struggles on, and is the most efficient method of teaching. Alongside this, naturally, if the student has any specific queries on subjects they have been struggling on at school, I am more than happy to assist them in tackling the questions.
I prefer to keep a relatively friendly dynamic, as I have noticed that students feel antagonised if their teacher is far too strict.
I am also more than happy to answer any short queries that the student may have out of hours, and encourage them to use me as a resource if they can.
For any questions, feel free to email me.
