During my 25 years of teaching experience, in India and in the UK, I have taught many different subjects and topics, ranging from A levels, engineering, and applied mathematics, to diverse set of students with different levels of needs, knowledge, ages, nationalities, and cultural backgrounds. My goal is to have an open, approachable, and stress-free environment where a student is encouraged to participate, and is not afraid to ask questions no matter how small they might be. I encourage students to be involved in open exploration of ideas, and respect them to learn at their own pace and ability.
Planning is the first and important step to determine which areas a student is good at, and what areas need additional focus. I always prepare lesson notes with important learning objectives in line with students needs, course structure, and exam board requirements. My lessons always start with 'review & preview' to review whats done is last lesson and outlining current lesson. Along with exam review, focusing on important concepts, proofs, theorems etc and focusing on techniques to effectively answer and solve exam style questions. And most importantly I provide regular feedback highlighting areas of strengths and areas where improvement is required. I also prepare customised learning plans including assignments and revision packs.
