My lessons are aimed to achieve conceptual excellence. I take up a four tier approach in teaching.
Tier 1: I will give a complete explanation of the subject regardless of whether the school has handled the topic or not.
Tier 2: I would start a questioning session where in I would aim to ensure that the student has understood the key concepts of the particular topic.
Tier 3: Whilst simultaneously clarifying questions in the previous tier, I would encourage the student to solve conceptual and practical problematic questions relevant to that particular topic. I would be accompanying the student in this stage this is the stage where the student gets complete wholistic understanding of the topic.
Tier 4: This tier is mostly run by students where they would the questions they have at this stage. Questions here would be come in a way that would help the student differentiate the current topic from a previously learned similar topic.
My expectations:
I would expect the student to have some interest to learn. The student would not need to worry about the complexity of any topic as it is my responsibility to break down topics aiming towards simplicity.
Homework policy:
I am not a strong advocate to barging students with workloads at home and believe that effective conceptual understanding would induce students to work on the concepts when they find time.
Availability:
I am open to classes early in the morning too. With the virtual world flourishing at its complete pace, I am fine to deliver classes both online and offline.
