I am Mrs Olajide Adejoke Deborah a lover of indigenous language learning. My passion for indigenous language started from my experience as an interpreter (Yoruba/English) at both public and private religious programmes. I am a qualified Yoruba instructor with teaching certificates such as: Nigeria Certificate in Education (Yoruba/Social Studies), Bachelor of Arts (Yoruba Education), Masters of Art (Yorùbá.Literature) and currently running a PhD program in Yoruba Language.
I have been opportuned to teach in Primary, Secondary, Tertiary Institutions both Public and Private. In addition, my students (young and old) enjoy my attention privately for effective and efficient teaching/learning process.
My teaching methods vary depending on the class or learning stage. My learners are at liberty to dictate the time suitable for them. All efforts at ensuring mastery of the subject (Yoruba Language) is also put in place such as participatory learning, recordings, pictorial evidences, improvisation of teaching aids where necessary to facilitate effective teaching. Students carry out task to ensure retention of the lessons learnt.
I presently work with the Lagos State Government as a Yoruba consultant. My knowledge and experience of over decades in the Parliament on the Use of Yoruba Language in the Conduct of Legislative Business gives birth to my passion for the acquisition of basic literacy in Yoruba language. This I ensure regardless of how difficult my learners see the subject. Learning becomes easy when learners are fortunate to have a teacher who have passion for the subject.
