I use various materials such as PDF documents, Ms PowerPoint presentation, worksheets. Sometimes, if necessary I use short videos to explain complex concepts in class.

My class is usually engaging, it's a team work between myself as the Tutor and my students.
For example during a comprehension exercise I divided the reading into paragraphs I read the first paragraph and my student read the next and that is done till the end of the passage. This is to ensure full participation and attention of the students. When it's time to answer questions out of 8 questions I'd answer two with the students and then the students go on to answer the remaining 6 on his/her the essence of this is to ensure that my student can independently answer the questions. Sometimes, before going to the questions I give a summary of the passage and what it entails. Other times when my students see difficult words they do not understand I explain the meaning to them based on how the word is used in the passage.
When taking a topic in grammar for instance, parts of speech I use visible objects to explain the meaning. For instance, a noun I can ask my students to mention a few things he/she can physically see in his/her immediate environment such as chair, table, laptop etc. After they mention some I tell them that what they have just mentioned are nouns. After such introduction they remember other examples even if they can't see it. We then go on to take exercises from worksheets I have downloaded for their class level. Once that is done I go through the answers and give the correct answers in case any question is given a wrong answer.
