I like to start off with getting to know my students and figure out what teaching techniques work the best for them. I have set up quizzes to help facilitate that process. If they are a visual learner, I will make use of diagrams and colourful notes and display them on the board to highlight the most important aspects. In case of someone who learns better through listening, I will shift my focus to explaining topics through a conversation and invite them to ask questions throughout while checking in to make sure they are understanding the topic. I will always emphasise to my students to be honest and open to ask questions or in case they do not understand some concept. I will stay patient and positive to give them the confidence they need to succeed. I will also utilise the concept of spaced repetition to review previously learned topics so that they are not forgotten so easily. At the end of the lessons, I will review the topics, set expectations for the next class, ask them for feedback and based on their learning method I will give them exercises to try and work through in their own time. I will also make sure to leave my contact details so that if the students has any questions they can contact, I want them to feel that I am always available to help them to let them feel a sense of security. I have prior experience teaching during my years in high school, as one of the top students in Maths, my classmates asked me to help them, and I would always arrange to meet with them after school to help them out, I did it out of the kindness of my heart for free, as helping others is something that I really cherish and brings me a rewarding feeling.
