I have been a teacher for thirty years, practicing mainly in Primary schools (and predominantly in the area of specialist music education). I spent one year teaching Art and Music at Princethorpe College, which is an independent secondary school in Warwickshire.
I am a practicing musician as well as a fine artist, and I give piano lessons as well as art lessons to all ages. I play piano to grade 7 standard, and have also lead choirs, with both children and adults. I am also a fairly prolific composer, working in television, providing scores for television series and films. In addition I have composed a large number of musicals, which have been performed all around the country.
Having studied Art to degree level, I would be able to assist pupils in both technique as well as the History of Art. In terms of music, I could give some help in instrumental skills on keyboards, as well as in vocal skills, but my main area of expertise would be in theory and in composition.

In art sessions, I begin where the individual pupil is at - if they need to practice basic drawing skills, that's what we do. Art is about technique as much as it is about inspiration, and so sessions build on both techniques involved in creating quality art, and the ideas which might inspire the work. Much of the art curriculum in schools is often about ideas, so my job is about helping those ideas grow, and giving the firm technical foundations for them to be realised.

I am often able to provide many of the resources needed in a session, with some resources such as canvases occasionally needing to be sourced by the student. Alternatively I can source them and be reimbursed.
