In teaching beginners I have a standard 8 point approach;

I start by teaching alphabets and numbers and then move to introduce them to simple vocabulary and introductory sentences.
Once mastered, I move on to grammar use all the while keeping things simple and easy to digest, usually teaching one thing at a time.
