I am a friendly and experienced (2 years ) English tutor, helping students from KS3 to GCSE to improve their core skills. aims to develop confidence and a deep understanding of the topics, so that the student doesn't just learn and forget them. I aim to have a pupil centered outlook focusing on building core skills, examination prep and confidence academically. Focusing on knowledge gaps, and teaching my students how to achieve and reach targets we shall set between us. i shall be offering both online tuition, by google classroom or teams dependent on whats most accessible for the individual as well as in person tuition for those local ( Birmingham) Hopefully with my guidance you can achieve the grade you want to if not higher, As well as my personal tuition i intend to provide recourse's and revision to either build key skills or to achieve in your exams. Having sat the new GCSE and A-Level specifications, I am well-informed on the new examination styles with an extensive question bank and resources tailored for student use. My lessons are personalised to meet the needs of each individual student as I appreciate that everyone has their own unique learning style, requirements and areas where they need support.
The length of my lessons is usually 1-2 hours per session depending on the age of the student and their request. My lessons usually begin with a quick-fire starter to ease the student into the session - this is usually a past paper question based on a topic from the previous session or a mini-workout to build up to the topic of the session. At the start of the session, I will give the student a breakdown of what I will be covering in the session which allows them to communicate where they might struggle the most and allows me to dedicate sufficient time to these areas. I believe that students learn best when given opportunities to practise what they have learnt so I integrate the teaching of concepts with giving the student the opportunity to answer questions and practise throughout the session. I tend to break up topics into bite-sized chunks to help students process the information easily. I try incorportating visual aids and mnemonics into most of my sessions to aid students with recall. Each session will include exam questions for the student to practise in session as well as additional questions set as homework to support their learning outside of the sessions.
