I am 18 years old and I only did my maths GCSE 2 years ago. I got a grade 7 in it as I myself had a private tutor. Me and my private tutor built a great bond and she was extremely helpful in making sure I understand and I am confident in my answers. Therefore I would like to provide the same service to other children who are doing their exams.
In an hourly lesson, I would spend 10 minutes on a recap of the last lesson and minutes teaching or helping you understand (new / old) content. The rest of the lesson would be exam practise where we would work together on questions and ensure you are confident.
Lessons would be tailored to your needs and I would ask you what you would like to be helped on at the start of each lesson. If necessary we can spend more than one lesson on a specific topic until I am reassured that you are confident. I have various teaching styles and would be able to adapt my teaching to you.
I feel it is extremely important that each private lesson is catered to the students needs. Each student has their own strengths and weaknesses. For example, many students struggle with algebra whereas many students enjoy fractions. Both are difficult to do in maths, however with the right amount dedication and commitment to your studies, it gets easier. I also feel that it is necessary to have some lessons that are fun for the student. This means we could do quizzes, maths games and watch videos too. The student must feel free to recommend their own activities too.
