I have been a private tutor for a while. I always take a student-centered approach and work with the student to maximize progress.

Most of the lessons will begin with an activity based on the work of the student at school. From there, normally we work on improving the work together, see what can be changed, added and, if need be, it is rewritten. I like to set some sort of work that challenges the student and encourages them to be more independent and confident with their learning and their own capabilities. Homework is also set where needed.

I like student-led sessions; it allows students to feel more comfortable and allows me a better understanding of the help they want and/or require.
