Help, child with DCD.Needs to write alphabet and numbers

Hi there,my grandson has DCD,he can hardly write,so we need alphabet,numbers,number placements and writing a sentence taught.He is Primary two and mortified,he has been given a chrome book but surely writing should be done or is that old fashioned.Surely he must be able to write his signature.If anybody can help you have no idea how this would help him psychologically but us as we and the school are trying,the teacher has a large class and granny is rubbish!
