Is literary Russian different from common Russian?

I would like to know if the Russian used in books, such as by Dostoevsky and Tolstoy is the same as the Russian used in today's everyday language

Hello, Literary Russian and the Russian that people use every day are different, just like literary English and spoken English. Conversational Russian is more straightforward and A2-B1 level is enough to speak, while literary Russian is more complex and requires C1-C2 level knowledge.
