We did a survey in class and the teacher has asked us to find the mean and the median. Are these not the same thing?

To find the mean, you add up all the numbers and divide by the count of numbers. To find the median, you arrange the numbers in order and pick the middle number. Example: 5, 2, 3, 7, 3 Mean = (5+2+3+7+3) / 5 = 4 Median = 2, 3, 3, 5, 7 | The number exactly in the middle is 3. So median is 3
